Product description

Bovine blood protein isolate (standardised to at least 50% IgG) from New Zealand grass-fed cattle.

Concentrating the proteins and peptides from bovine blood into one isolate creates a powerful protein powder full of complexity and fascinating molecules. Minerals such as iron and other nutrients are not included in the final product. The omission of these nutrients may sound strange, but not everyone needs or wants a product rich in iron. By focusing on the proteins in the blood, blood powder from grass-fed beef becomes a suitable choice for almost everyone. So taking bovine blood protein isolate is an easy way to add these specific and missing proteins back into your diet.

The protein composition of blood protein isolate from grass fed cattle typically contains over 50% immunoglobulin G (IgG), bovine serum albumin (~10%), transferrin (~6%) and IgA and IgM (~5%), and other bovine plasma proteins. This product contains the only available, purified, dairy-free source of IgG.

Proteomics analysis techniques have identified more than 180 unique proteins in bovine blood protein isolate, including at least 15 immunoglobulin-related peptides. Other examples include insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2 (IgF-1, -2), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-ß), epidermal growth factor (EGF), fibroblast growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor (PGF), lactoferrin and lysozyme.

Why we like this pasture-raised beef blood protein isolate

This is a pretty cool product. In the past, blood was just as much a food as meat and vegetables. Today, blood is usually only found in blood sausages, unless you are one of the Masai in Tanzania and Kenya who drink fresh, raw blood. Blood, like any food, contains its own nutrients, such as antibodies. Why should we spurn this unique food? Blood is like organs: forgotten, but treasured!
