Wakame Seaweed Flakes. Wakame, also known as winged kelp, is a mild, slightly sweet brown seaweed. Our European Wakame comes from the species Alaria esculenta, which grows wild in the cold, clear waters of the North Atlantic. It is closely related to the more well-known Japanese Wakame, which is traditionally used in miso soups or seaweed salads.
If you have ever dined at a Japanese restaurant, you may have spotted Wakame salad on the menu – made with sesame, sesame oil, and soy sauce.
Origin: North Atlantic, from wild harvest
Production: Air-dried (raw food)
Ingredients: Wakame flakes (Alaria esculenta)
Allergens: Seaweeds do not contain allergens. However, since this is a natural product, it may contain traces of mollusks, crustaceans, or sand.
Storage: Cool and dry
Warning: Seaweeds are naturally rich in iodine. Excessive intake of iodine can lead to thyroid dysfunction. Daily intake should be adjusted to personal needs.
Of the various types of seaweeds we offer, some are regularly tested for heavy metals.
