Sweet Kombu, also known as Sugar Kelp, Royal Kombu, or Sweet Kelp, is a brown algae of the species Saccharina latissima. It grows in the clear, cold waters of the North Atlantic and is one of the mildest and tenderest edible seaweeds.
In flavor, Sugar Kelp is subtle and slightly sweet, with a fine texture. It is excellent as an ingredient in soups, stews, or other savory dishes – also for cooking as an umami carrier, similar to classic Kombu.
Origin: North Atlantic, wild harvested
Production: Air-dried (raw food)
Ingredients: Sweet Kombu (Saccharina latissima)
Allergens: Seaweeds do not contain allergens. However, since this is a natural product, it may contain traces of mollusks, crustaceans, or sand.
Storage: Cool and dry
Warning: Algae are naturally rich in iodine. Excessive intake of iodine can lead to thyroid dysfunction. The daily intake should be adjusted to personal needs.
Of the various types of algae we offer, some are regularly tested for heavy metals.
